On May 22, 2026, Governor DeSantis signed into law Chapter 2026-114, which requires individuals 18 years or older serving as an athletic coach, assistant coach, referee or umpire, to pass a Level 2 fingerprint-based background screening.
Starting July 1, 2026, independent sanctioning authorities** will need to initiate screenings through VECHS. Prints will get processed through the AHCA Clearinghouse.
