As a reminder, the Florida “Cleared to Care” healthcare screening requirement went into effect July 1, 2025. The new law expands the scope of healthcare professions requiring a level 2 background check including dentists, optometrists, pharmacists, mental health counselors, and dietitians. A level 2 background check is required when applying for an initial license and also for license renewals. The renewal period begins 90-120 days before your license expires. Be prepared to complete the screening requirements ahead of your next license renewal date.
