California Attorney and Lawyer Fingerprinting / Re-Fingerprinting

Accurate Biometrics offers fast, convenient live scan fingerprinting for attorneys and lawyers requiring fingerprinting, or mandatory re-fingerprinting under the California State Bar California Rule of Court Rule 9.9.5 http://www.calbar.ca.gov/Portals/0/201805231439.pdf. This took effect June 1, 2018, and the deadline to re-submit fingerprints is April 30, 2019.

We offer walk-in live scan fingerprinting service at our Los Angeles location. We can also process manual fingerprint cards for California attorneys who reside out-of-state or out-of-country.

In Person Application

For in-person fingerprinting you will need a fingerprint authorization form from The State Bar of California. Use this link to view and print a pre-populated fingerprint authorization form from your “My State Bar Profile” on the The State Bar of California website. You can walk-in for fingerprinting at our Los Angeles office. No appointment is required. We will capture and submit your prints for processing.

Accurate Biometrics will email you a report with your Automated Transaction Identifier (ATI) number that verifies your lives scan submission has been processed. This will also serve as your receipt.

Price: The cost of fingerprinting is $69.00. We do not accept cash or personal checks. All Major credit cards, business checks, and money orders are accepted.

By Mail Application

Non-California residents can send in manual fingerprint cards and the fingerprint authorization form above. The standard FBI FD-258 fingerprint card form must be used and can be downloaded here and printed on letter-size copy paper.

Applicants applying by mail can follow these simple steps:

  1. Download a FBI FD-258 fingerprint card form here or you can also obtain a FBI FD-258 form from your local sheriff's office or police department.
    Note: All data fields highlighted in yellow on the sample must be written/printed legibly and completely filled-in on the fingerprint card or form to expedite the fingerprint card scan service. Fill out the APPLICANT section of the fingerprint card, with BLACK INK ONLY.

  2. Fill Out the Form. Ypre-populated fingerprint authorization form from your “My State Bar Profile” on the The State Bar of California website. by logging into to your profile here.

  3. Provide 2 completed original FBI FD-258 fingerprint card forms from any authorized fingerprint provider (local law enforcement agency or licensed fingerprint vendor).
    Note: We will also accept an electronically produced ink cards from an authorized fingerprint provider.

  4. After your fingerprints have been rolled on the FBI FD-258 fingerprint card form, mail the original ink cards, and live scan request with your contact telephone number, email address and your payment. Payment should be in the form of a business check or money order made payable to: Accurate Biometrics, or with a completed

  5. Accurate Biometrics will scan your fingerprint card and submit your fingerprints electronically to the California Department of Justice, Division of Law Enforcement for processing.

  6. The State Agency requesting your fingerprint-based background check will receive the results of your California and FBI criminal history record check. This will complete your fingerprint-based background check steps.
